🛬 Arrival in Rio: GIG vs. SDU
Rio de Janeiro is served by two main airports. Depending on your flight, you will land at either the international hub or the regional city airport.
- Galeão International Airport (GIG)
- Primary Hub: Best for international teams and heavy cargo.
- Distance to Riocentro: Approx. 35 km (22 miles).
- Estimated Travel Time: 40 to 60 minutes.
- Route: Direct access via the Linha Amarela (Yellow Line) expressway.
- Santos Dumont Airport (SDU)
- Domestic Hub: Best for connections from São Paulo or Brasília.
- Distance to Riocentro: Approx. 38 km (24 miles).
- Estimated Travel Time: 50 to 75 minutes.
- Route: Located in the city center; travel usually involves the Linha Vermelha or scenic coastal routes.

- Traffic Advisory: Rio’s traffic can be unpredictable. During “rush hour” (07:00–09:00 or 17:00–19:00), please expect potential delays.

Official CBMERJ Shuttle Service
We are pleased to announce that official transportation will be provided for all competitors by the Rio de Janeiro State Fire Department (CBMERJ).
- Vehicle Types: Dedicated CBMERJ Vans and Buses.
- Operating Hours: From 08:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily.
- Meeting Point: Look for the CBMERJ uniformed officers and WRC signage at the arrivals hall of both airports.
